In short
The AlertBolt EA is a MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisor that creates an AlertBolt price alert from your chart: it sends the symbol and the level, places no orders, and AlertBolt then notifies you on your plan's channels.
- Platform
- MetaTrader 5 only (not MetaTrader 4).

- Notification
- Your plan's channels: Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp (depending on plan), Email, push.

- Coverage
- 120 of 707 symbols recognised on Deriv's MT5 terminal (measured October 21, 2026).
What the AlertBolt EA does
From the chart
Symbol and price are already filled in: no retyping, no typos.
Terminal closed
The terminal is only needed to create the alert. Monitoring then runs on our servers.
Your channels
Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp, Email or push depending on your plan, like your other alerts.
The EA places no orders: it only sends AlertBolt the symbol and the level you chose.
Setup in 4 steps
Download and install the EA
In your AlertBolt dashboard, MT5 page, download the .ex5 file. In MetaTrader: File > Open Data Folder, copy the file into MQL5/Experts and restart the terminal.
Allow WebRequest
Tools > Options > Expert Advisors: tick "Allow WebRequest for listed URL" and add the address shown on your dashboard's MT5 page. MetaTrader blocks external calls otherwise.
Create your key
On the MT5 page, create a key (it starts with abm5_) and copy it right away: it is only shown once. Drag the EA onto a chart and paste the key in its inputs. It is then remembered on this computer.
Place your first alert
Pick your channels with the buttons on the chart, click "+ Alert" (an orange line follows your mouse), then click on the chart at the price you want: the alert is created and the line turns blue. Esc cancels. Moving a blue line moves the alert, deleting it cancels the alert. AlertBolt notifies you on the channels you picked when the price reaches that level.
Which symbols are covered?
On Deriv's MetaTrader 5 terminal, 120 of 707 symbols are recognised (measured October 21, 2026). With another broker, suffixes such as ".m" or ".pro" are handled, but the price comes from AlertBolt's feed (Deriv or Binance) and can differ slightly from your terminal's.

Good to know before you start
- Paid plans only (Premium, Pro, Elite, Business). Alerts you create count toward your plan's quota.
- Alerts are for a price above or below a level. Candle-close alerts are not available from the EA yet.
- Not every symbol a broker offers is covered. The EA warns you when you create the alert if the symbol is not supported.
- On a broker other than Deriv, AlertBolt's price can differ slightly from your terminal's.
Frequently asked questions
What is the AlertBolt EA for MetaTrader 5?
The AlertBolt EA is an Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5 that creates a price alert on AlertBolt straight from your chart. It sends only the symbol and the price level you choose, places no orders, and AlertBolt then notifies you when the price reaches that level, on the channels of your plan (Telegram, Discord, Email and push, plus WhatsApp from the Pro plan).
Does the AlertBolt EA place trades on my MetaTrader 5 account?
No. The EA only reads the symbol and the price level you choose on the chart and sends them to AlertBolt. It never opens, modifies or closes orders and has no access to your trading password.
Do I need to keep MetaTrader 5 open for the alert to work?
No. MetaTrader only needs to be open at the moment you create the alert. AlertBolt then watches the price on its own servers and notifies you on the channels of your plan when your level is reached: Telegram, Discord, Email and push, plus WhatsApp from the Pro plan.
Which instruments are supported?
On Deriv's MetaTrader 5 terminal, AlertBolt recognised 120 of 707 symbols when measured on October 21, 2026: all 14 major forex pairs, every Step, Jump, Range Break and Basket index, 13 of 25 Volatility indices, 14 of 20 Boom & Crash indices, 33 of 37 cryptocurrencies (priced via Binance), plus gold and other metals and 12 of 16 stock indices. Stocks, ETFs, DEX, Drift Switch, Multi Step, Hybrid and Trek indices, oil, agricultural commodities and exotic forex pairs are not covered. If a symbol is not supported, the EA tells you when you create the alert instead of failing silently.
Which MetaTrader brokers does it work with?
Any broker using MetaTrader 5, as long as the symbol can be matched. Broker suffixes such as ".m" or ".pro" are handled. Prices come from AlertBolt's market feed, so on a broker other than Deriv they can differ slightly from your terminal's price.
Is the MetaTrader 5 integration available on the free plan?
No, it is included with every paid plan (Premium, Pro, Elite and Business). Free accounts keep the standard web alerts.
Can a very short spike be missed?
AlertBolt compares the price at regular checks. An alert triggers when the price is at or beyond your level at a check, so a spike that comes and goes between two checks can be missed. For levels you cannot afford to miss, place the alert slightly before the level.
Does it work with MetaTrader 4?
No. The AlertBolt EA is built for MetaTrader 5 only. MetaTrader 4 is not supported.
Can I create an alert on a candle close or on a zone from MetaTrader 5?
Not yet. Alerts created from the EA are for a price above or below a level. Candle-close alerts and zones are not available from the EA at this time.
What happens if I delete the line on my chart?
The EA synchronises with your account: removing the line removes the alert, and alerts you already have are redrawn on the chart when the EA starts.
